    Askaris

First let me admit that I know absolutely nothing about this particular period.  Having said that, the new 28mm Foundry figures from the Darkest Africa range looked quite sharp.  So when a friend of mine decided to put on just such a participation game at the upcoming Council Fires Convention, I offered to buy and paint a pack or two.  Nice bit of fun.  This particular bunch are DA 223 British Askaris.  These are for a fictional colonial African country, so please don't email me telling me I've painted the uniforms wrong!

The bases are the Games Workshop© plastic 40K© slottabases© with artifical "snow" bought in a craftshop used to hide the figure's base.  The "snow" has the consistency of very smooth plaster, but has grit and gravel in it, which drybrushs nicely.  Some scrub and weeds are represented by patches of static grass.
